Mission Statement

Our mission is to help young teens attain skills and habits
which empower them to grow into confident,
accomplished adults.  Involvement with the Western
States Jr. Teen America Scholarship Program will teach
delegates the importance of goal setting, follow through
and hard work.

This scholarship program emphasizes community service,
academic excellence and communication skills. Our
delegates will gains skills in poise and presentation that will
help them achieve goals they set for themselves now and
later in life.

Through scholarships and prizes the Western States Jr.
Teen America Scholarship Program rewards young women
between the ages of 9 and 13 who play an active part in
their schools and communities, and who strive to be a
positive role model to their peers.
Dear potential sponsor,

This letter is to introduce you to Miss Breanna Regan, your community’s delegate to the 2005 Jr.
Teen America Scholarship Program.  As your delegate she will be working hard in the coming months
to serve your community through personal appearances and volunteer work.  Breanna is an
outstanding young woman and we are very proud to have her representing Tacoma, Washington.

Through scholarships and prizes, the Miss Jr. Teen America Scholarship Program rewards young
women between the ages of 10 and 13 who play an active part in their schools and communities,
and who strive to be a positive role model to their peers.  Our mission is to help junior teens attain
skills and habits which empower them to grow into confident, accomplished adults.  This is not a
beauty pageant.  Our focus is on academic achievements, community service and communication
skills.  Our program is founded on the principle that the future of our world is dependent upon the
leadership qualities of today's youth.

In May, Breanna will be competing for the State title and the opportunity to advance to the national
Jr. Teen America competition this fall.  All state and national title holders will devote time
throughout the coming year to promoting their issue of concern and serving as a role model for
youth throughout their communities.  Each delegate is responsible for gathering financial
support
from her community in the amount of $275.  Your
support in any amount will assist Breanna in
achieving this goal.  There is also a
sponsor advertising section in the program book that advertises
your business to all pageant attendees and helps the delegates with their pageant weekend
expenses.  Western States Jr. Teen America is a not for profit organization staffed by volunteers
committed to the development of our youth.  Your
sponsorship support will enable this program to
touch the lives of an extensive network of young women.  Your commitment to the development of
our future leaders is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Diane Schmidt

Breanna's Community Concern:  Drinking and Driving
Prevention

Drinking and driving motor vehicle crashes kill someone
every thirty minutes and non-fatally injures someone every
two minutes.

On February 3, 2005 my best friend Markelle found out at
school that her father was killed that morning by a drunk
driver.   Her dad never had a chance as the driver that hit
him was on the wrong side of the highway.  Markelle
watched the news that morning before going to school.
While trying to call her dad on his cell phone, she saw the
crash with the blue tarp covering the car and this was
very
painful for Markelle and her mom.

I am certain that stronger State activities designed to
prevent driving under the influence, including
enforcement, and education of prevention, will allow our
community and nation to see a reduction in the incidence
of drinking and driving.

One strike not three!  Zero tolerance is my message!
